It turns out I'm the only person in the world with my name.  Or at least the only person in the world who has my name and who can be googled.

Weird!

Anyway, the job fell through- and I have never felt such relief.  It was a nightmare- trying to get my license and some kind of car arrangement, especially.  And the totally inflexible schedule and micromanaging by the management made the whole thing seem like a total fun-crusher.

I wasn't going to have a single two-day stretch off all summer!  I couldn't have gone to the beach, or camping, or even to an amusement park.  I would have been exhausted and bitter all the time.

And for what?  I kept telling myself the money was good- but it's not SO good compared to how many hours I would be putting in, plus all the car upkeep/gas guzzling.

No, this is A LOT better.

And in other good news:

I got a room!  It's in a row house, which is a new experience for me, but one I like a lot.  I'm in a nice residential area, so there are trees and birds and dogs around.  And my room is tiny, but there is a great big window and a door leading out onto my very own balcony!!!!!

The place was rented for a couple years by a group of ROTC guys, and was FILTHY when we moved in.  Most of it still is filthy, to tell the truth.  But the boys and I cleaned most of the kitchen the other day, and on Sunday I did a massive cleaning of my room.  I "Fantastic"-ed the entire floor, for one!

This is how dirty the room was: there was a piece of black plastic on the floor, so I picked it up and turned it over.  It was a sticky trap with a dead mouse stuck to it!

But after about 15 hours of work, my room is functional, and fairly clean.  And bright, and light, and connected to the outside world!  Ahhhhhhh.

And now that I don't have to work my life away, I can go home with Paxson this weekend to meet his grandparents from Cali.  Afterwards, I'll prob. have to go home for a day or two to do a massive grocery shopping trip, and to try and get my license (again).  Argh.

After that, I guess I'll try to figure out the job thing again- only this time, I'll take something a LITTLE less grown-up ;)

I got the teaching job! And my grandma really seems to be coming through about the whole car-buying thing!

So, now I have to find out about the sublet, and FINALLY pass my driving exam.

Ok, but more importantly:

Yesterday was graduation day!!!!!!!!!

Got up early, met with Paxson at the apt. (and he gave me a fabulous bouquet which I subesequently forgot there).
Did the whole: listen to the megatron and shake Brody's hand-ceremony-thing. I was actually pretty affected, could have cried at a couple points. Not to mention I was nervous as hell getting ready to walk the stage... and THRILLED at the end of the ceremony. An amazing, exhilirating feeling!!!

Took a couple pictures with Tony (stressed by his huge visiting family contingent), Jaya, Mom, and Paxson.

Jaya, Paxson, and my parents and I got a snack at Karma's, then Paxson and I followed my parents back to Alexandria.

We popped some champagne, I opened some amazing presents (beautiful braclet included) and we drove over to eat dinner at Evening Star Cafe.

The cafe was amazing- really relaxed and homey, but the food and wine was amazing. We had fabulous duck, a bottle of wine, and cheesecake for desert. It was a great meal, and I was SO SO SO happy!

Paxson and I watched about half of the "Crow" and hung out, happy to finally see eachother after nearly a week apart.

And today was fabulous, too.

It was nice waking up with Paxson, like always. I wake up in such a crappy, grumpy mood because I am just plain not a morning person, but as soon as I see him and have a couple kisses, I feel a hundred times better.

Anyway, we ate lunch with Papa, and headed over to the Body Exhibit. I wasn't sure it would be a good time, but it turned out to be really fascinating, and a lot of fun. You could really see every little part, and how it fit into the whole, and the descriptions and flow were great. We spent maybe two hours walking through, looking at every little exhibit, figuring the whole thing out, and at the end, we got to ask a docent a few questions about it. It was nice taking our time and really thinking about it all... not to mention, doing it all with Paxson.

My parents, Paxson, and I had a family dinner tonight, and then he had to leave.

I was pretty sad when he left, of course, and I'm not going to get to see him for almost exactly a whole week (then I'm going up to NJ to visit his place). Aw man. I can't wait until we're back in our own lives in Baltimore again.

On the one hand, it was great having him here with my parents (who, obviously I love and love being around) and in a nice house, and showing him around my home base. But on the other hand, everyone's someone different at home with their parents than they are in their own life. And sometimes it was frustrating- being "myself" and "myself," you know? It's not that either is unnatural or unreal, it's just that my parents and Paxson each speak to different sides of me.

Regardless, it was an amazing visit, and I love the man a lot... and being a graduate is sure a load off- phenomenal!

SCHOOL IS FINNISHED!

I'll officially be a graduate in two days. But I finished absolutely all my schoolwork more than a week ago.

I've been focusing on getting a job, an apartment, and a method of transportation.

The Job:
Hopefully getting a summer teaching thing. I'm hopeful, but my fingers are still crossed. I should hear tomorrow!

The Apartment:
I viewed the perfect summer sublet last week. Gorgeous house, nice neighborhood, pet cat, washer/dryer, on-street parking, etc, etc... AND, cheap as hell. But the roommates are all on vacation this week, and I haven't heard if I can move in yet. So, I'm a little stressed about that, too. I need to know where I'm living VERY soon, because I'm probably not going to be in Baltimore for more than a day or two before the end of May, when my lease ends.

Transportation:
I need to actually go in and get my license early next week. I SHOULD be able to get it- my driving is good enough... but I get nervous, and the Festiva is breaking (and I don't want to have to drive the Focus in the test, because I've driven it, what, maybe once in my life?). Once I have the license, however, my troubles don't really end, because I don't have a car. On the one hand, my grandma "declared" she'd get me one for graduation. That's a FANTASTIC present, of course, and not one I was expecting. But I can't really believe I'll get the car until I'm actually driving it down the road, because my grandma is old and out of it and doesn't really understand about money. I mean, this is a woman who today, when we went to the movies together, told me my movie ticket was my graduation present- and she wasn't joking. So who knows...

I'm sure everything will work out, and I'm very hopeful that I'll have a fun summer- hanging out with Paxson, working a nice job, driving around... but right now, everything is just on the edge of getting figured out, so I'm kind of stressing.

Can't WAIT until it's a little more figured out!

I've been doing a lot of family stuff, worrying about job and car stuff... but tomorrow I just have to run a couple errands (the crappy part of which is a long trip to the Apple store, which my father will love and I will hate) and clean the house as much as possible... ugh, writing like that, it seems like a lot. But hopefully there will be some napping and mystery novel reading, too!

We've been spending almost all our time together, and it just makes me want to see him more.

Every time we see each other is better than the last.  And when I don't see him, I can't stop missing him.

I wish so much we didn't have all this schoolwork so we could be together right now.

Who knew this would happen?  It's so powerful.  Shocking.

I'm a new person.
